Someone tried HDMI on this build? Why HDMI category removed from settings app?

The wifi module must fit to the kernel address exports. So, it will work with the given three MT5931 modules ... or never.
BT is only implemented for RTL8723 wifi. Other chips will work, but no BT and GPS. The stack has changed dramatically in LP, so implementation would be a hell of a lot of work.
HDMI settings is in LP no more one app, it is splashed into several different places. So, a lot of work to implement. However, HDMI will work without settings.
Video forward/rewind works flawlessly here. If I cannot simulate something here on my tab, there is no reasonable change to deal with it. Make sure using hardware decoding.

Most likely a defective NAND. I guess a clean installed build works for some time and then showing the issue?

Well, it happens on immediately on boot, when you configure language etc. it pops up/nags already.
But from testing a bit more it's not only those popups, there are also random reboots.
Would be nice to know what part/component on the inside to check or try to re-solder or something.

I am always using HW decoding but its changing nothing. Also tested video on external SD card formated to NTFS file system or maybe its another hardware issue, who knows...
Thanks for feedback. I will return to CM10.1

Changing language means there is something written on the NAND. You can try to change the NAND chip. However, this will most likely damage more than it helps.

Resurrecting this old thread!
I got myself this old and slow tablet in hope that it would be enough to browse internet, watch Youtube and stuff and was super dissapointed as any task took ages to do. So I decided to give it a try and get a new ROM on it in a hope that it will make it maybe little more usable without bloatware.
I was following this instructions found in "CrewRKTablets_Odys_Iron_CM11.4.4.3_v1.0.7z"
Instructions (be aware: it is your own risk!)
1. copy format_NAND fix to external sd card and put the card in
2. connect your Odys Iron to the power supply and to the PC via USB cable
=========
first install only
3. boot your Oyds Iron and set storage mode to MTP and debugging to USB
4. run DriverInstall.exe
=========
5. run RKAndroidTool.exe with admin rights
6. press power button and volume up button and hold for 12 sec
7. release the power button
8. release volume up button 2 sec after "Found ..." is shown
9. select EraseIDB
10. select Run
11. Iron will boot into CWM
12. run format_NAND fix (install zip from ext_sdcard)
13. select full format
14. go back, reboot system (do not fix su)
15. wait 4 minHave fun!
And guess what? I've probably bricked this junk 🙂 I've highlighted part that in my opinion went wrong: After pressing "run" it downloaded and checked some files and afterwards displayed "run OK" - Tablet did not boot and now is making clicking noises once every few seconds, usual thing for this tablet at the moment it starts to boot. But it is not booting at all 🙂 Holding Vol+ vol- and power at same time does nothing. It seems to be undetected via USB.
Any hope or tip for this thing or did I just myself fancy glass and aluminum cutting board? 🙂

Did you change the kernel?
- Oma -
mibars on Rom request für Odys xelio 10 extreme
Nope. I understoood that this ROMs are ready to go with right kernel already in it. I guess I misunderstood posts on previous page.
I've opened the tablet and chips are hidden under EMC shield which is soldered. (BTW kinda crappy design, lots of empty spaces, batteries could be larger and whole thing could have better screen-to-size ratio with small design changes...) I'll try desoldering it (but not today 🙁 ) and see what can be found, maybe some "hardware reset" like shown in this video is possible?
Oma7144 on Rom request für Odys xelio 10 extreme
No, every tab has its specific kernel (hardware abstraction layer). Odys Iron build is simply for Odys Iron. One need to change at least the kernel to make it run on other tabs.
The strange kernel bricked the tab. You need to start it in Mask-Rom mode. In generel like here.

Lightpost on OMA's ROM for Kata FishTab 3
Just installed Sir Oma's rom for Kata FishTab 3s and I've noticed a few things about it such as the headset icon not being displayed at the top whenever I plug a working one in.
Also, I noticed that it doesn't have the option to adjust at what percentage the device would alert me about the battery and that it just suddenly shuts down even if it still has more than 30% left.
I Googled about it and found out about battery calibration. Is it because flashing the device doesn't automatically create the appropriate battery stats file?
If I do have to use battery calibration apps, I don't understand how to actually use it. Should I just plug the tab to the charger, wait for it to fully charge then hit the app's calibrate button and it's done?
I keep reading on various calibration apps that it's recommended to let the battery drain and fully charge it again without interruption after the calibration - this is the part that I don't understand much.
When they say to let the battery drain, do I have to just leave the tablet on and not use it ("without interruption")? And after draining it and then recharging it to 100%, should I hit the calibrate button again?
Most importantly, it doesn't have an option to change the default storage location. Is this a hardware limitation and not a feature that was forgotten to be implemented?
I am aware that the phone has an Internal SD Card and that the external one I can insert is simply used to store files such as docs, music, movies, etc., but not apps.
Whenever I move Apps from the internal storage to the external one, it goes back to the internal SD Card after rebooting.
Second to the last thing I'd like to know how the "swap external to internal storage for Kata fish tab3." actually works as requested in this old thread (post # 9 and 10)?
[ ROM ] Kata FishTab 3 Android 4.2.2 custom root firmware (2014/07/02)
I've Googled enough to know that it makes the tablet think my external SD Card is the internal/built-in SD Card so that the apps would be move there instead. That's nice and all if only the apps don't go back after rebooting the device.
Sir Oma's instructions indicate to do a factory reset right after installing it via CWM, I assume the SD Swap Fix doesn't get deleted as well, right? Because for some reason, applying the fix doesn't seem to work -- it still treats my external 8GB SD Card as is.
Is this fix similar to the one where you need to edit something in a text file and change sdcard0 to sdcard1 on some lines of a certain file?
Also, if I manage to get it to work, I no longer need to bother with Link2SD and FolderMount, correct?
How would the swapped storages appear (labelled) when viewed on the Settings > Storage screen and on the File Manager?
I apologize for being very wordy and my grammatical errors, English isn't my native language. I wish I didn't have to dig deep into Google to clarify these stuff for myself but for some reason, the answers I need seem to elude me.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could clear those things up for me!
Thanks in advance!
